De Cajón, Tocando La Historia. 3 day Afro Peruvian performance and exhibit.
The event, De Cajón - “Tocando la historia” will be at the MCCLA gallery, and the community is invited to come and learn about the Cajon drum, originating from the Afro-Peruvian community. This exposition will host more than 10 artists including installations, photography, audiovisual, painting and sculpture. The event will open with a reception and musical presentation with the Cajon drum by “Jaranon y Bochinche”.

Tradición Peruana Cultural Center es una organización sin fines de lucro dedicada a promover y conservar el arte, cultura y tradición Peruana. Fundado en el año 1994, y por su aniversario de 25 años se encuentra realizando diferentes eventos. Unos de ellos es la primera exposición en los Estado Unidos de la historia y evolución del Cajón AfroPeruano. El cajón es un instrumento percutivo creado por la comunidad AfroPeruano por la costa de Perú con la llegada de los esclavos africanos.
