(Masks and Proof of Vaccination required) Fragments of Gage | 20 min | 7:00- 7:20 pm A look into life at the begining of the pandemic in one of Chicagos hardest hit communities Gage Park, Chicago. Produced by GPLXC in collaboration with 21 year old filmaker Emilio Nieto. Followed by: Seguimos Aquí | 30 min | 7:20-7:50 pm Four LGBTQ+ identifying Latinx Chicagoans navigate the COVID-19 pandemic, interpersonal struggles, and community triumphs throughout a turbulent yet powerful 2020. This documentary is part of a collaboration between the Association of Latino/as/x Motivating Action (ALMA) and the OUT at CHM Committee of the Chicago History Museum. Followed by: 10 minute Q& A and Social Hour | 8:00 - 9:00 PM. The Gage Park Latinx Council is a Community Based Grassroots Organization run by long time Latinx residents of the South West side of Chicago; for the advancement in Cultural and Social Justice for the residents of Gage Park and its bordering communities. We organize socially and politically in order to create a strong, safe, and culturally rich Gage Park that is reflective of the diverse Latinx working class community. GPLXC is committed to creating a strong sense of community and identity through Art, access to information, Education, Social Justice and direct positive actions.
