Description

Indigenous-Centered Art Exhibition Opening: Chaga Nolosan - Walking in Beauty Join us for the opening of Green Acre’s next art show, Chaga Nolosan – Walking in Beauty, an Indigenous-centered exhibition dedicated to amplifying the voices of people native to the Americas, on Saturday, August 28th at 7:00pm. Chaga Nolosan features works from Indigenous artists, using mediums such as quill work, music, film, paintings, beading, mixed media, embroidery, fashion, wood block print, glass art, and more. We open this show with a screening of Prophecy, a short film created by Roman Orona (Apache, Pueblo and Yaqui) that highlights the foretold path of destruction that humanity has followed and the spiritual medicine that will guide it out of this time of darkness and into a New Day. The film will be followed by Q&A with Roman, who will join us via Zoom from his home in Arizona. He will then lead participants in an interactive exploration of the Teachings portrayed in the film – Teachings that many see as vital medicine for the ills of society. Doors open at 6:45pm, with the screening at 7pm followed by group discussion. Light refreshments will then be served while attendees have a chance to explore the gallery floor and engage with the various pieces on loan. Roman Orona is a member of the Baha’i Faith and a Native American performer (dancer, singer, flutist), producer, director, podcaster, and owner of iamHUMAN Media. iamHUMAN Media is a national non-profit that develops programs to address social discourse, create community and unite humanity through the arts. Check out Roman Orona and iamHUMAN Media at: https://www.romanorona.com/iamhuman A Bahá'í, non-profit organization dedicated to contributing to the well-being of the community.
