View Saturn, Jupiter, constellations, and even a globular star cluster. The Burwell lawn opens at 7:30 pm, and the stargazing begins around 8:30 pm. **Admission is FREE** Rain date is August 15th. Come early and purchase a sweet treat from Whit's Frozen Custard. Picnic blankets are also for sale for $15 (cash only). *Telescopes and star maps are provided courtesy of our host astronomers. Masks are required while viewing. No pets allowed. Sanitizing stations and bottled water will be available. Visitors are encouraged to bring flashlights and bug spray. Overflow parking is available at Mt.Bright Church (211 W Union). The Hillsborough Garden Club of North Carolina promotes gardening and the protection of our natural resources, and has ongoing projects supporting beautification, restoration, garden therapy, conservation and citizenship in Hillsborough, NC.  Membership is open to all and meetings are held monthly.  www.hillsboroughgardenclubnc.com The Burwell School Historic Site, circa 1821 and 1848, is a house museum located n the Historic District of Hillsborough, NC.  It is named for the twenty-year period when it was the home of Robert and Anna Burwell, their family and enslaved servants, and their day and boarding school for young ladies.   The Burwell School provided a "classic English education" to at least 200 young women during the school's operation.   Perhaps the most notable resident of the site was Elizabeth Hobbs Keckly, a Burwell family slave who later purchased her freedom and established a successful dressmaking business in Washington, DC, where she becamre the "modiste" and close friend of First Lady Mary Lincoln.  The Burwell School will be observing the bicentennial of her birth in 2018 with events and exhibits.  The site is operated by the non-profit Historic Hillsborough Commission and is available to the public five days a week for free tours and visits.   www.burwellschool.org
