Freda received her undergraduate degree from Cheyney University, where she was a four-year scholarship student-athlete and a starter for the iconic Lady Wolves Women’s Basketball team under the leadership of Naismith Hall of Famer Coach C. Vivian Stringer. In 2018, she was inducted in the Cheyney Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame. Upon graduating from Cheyney, Freda continued her success in basketball as an assistant coach at two Division I level schools - the University of Missouri-Columbia and the Florida State University. Freda holds two master’s degrees: the MPA from the University of Missouri-Columbia and the MABC from Dallas Theological Seminary. Freda is a licensed mental health professional) with her current private practice in Florida. She has presented at regional conferences on a variety of mental health topics. As a certified business trainer, Freda has trained mental health professions, church leaders, business managers, entrepreneurs, and individuals to excel in their respective profession. She currently serves on the Executive Team Volunteer Chaplaincy program for the WNBA- Women’s National Basketball Association where she provides spiritual directions for volunteer chaplains serving the WNBA. Her self-published book, Fifty Ways to Say No and Mean It, continues to be a popular “go to handbook” for those daring to live a transformational life. Freda is the wife of Gentry Doxey and proud to be the mother of two young adult college students.
