BROOKLINE, MA — The Town of Brookline and the Brookline Community Foundation (BCF) announced Monday that nominations to join the Racial Equity Grant Program Committee are now open. The Racial Equity Grant Program, a joint effort of the town and BCF to advance equity and racial justice within the Brookline community, will provide grant funding to local organizations, nonprofits, and community groups working to address racial equity gaps in economic advancement, education, health and wellness, housing, and more. The Racial Equity Program Committee will include six community representatives who will have the opportunity to set funding priorities, review applications, and make funding recommendations during the first grant cycle. Community members can nominate themselves or someone else and each chosen member will receive a $750 stipend for their time serving on the committee. Committee members will be chosen by an Interim Steering Committee comprised of the three representatives from the Town and the three representatives from BCF. The Interim Steering Committee will aim to ensure that the majority of the Racial Equity Grant Program Committee's members identify as people of color. Nomination form responses are due by Wednesday, August 18 and can be submitted here. Anyone with questions can email BCF at [email protected] or call 617-566-4442.
