RENTON, WA — Renton Police are searching for suspects who witnesses told police were involving a shooting Sunday night that injured a woman, who was hospitalized with serious injuries after she was shot in the head, police said Monday. The victim has not been identified by police but was injured when suspects fired a gun into her vehicle just after 9:30 p.m. on Sunday. Witnesses told police that two vehicles were heading west toward Southwest Sunset Boulevard from northbound Rainer Avenue South when the suspects fired multiple rounds into the victim's vehicle and struck the female driver, police said in a news release. A department spokesman said Monday that there is no reason for police to think that the victim or the passengers in her dark-colored Chevy Traverse knew the shooters or knew why their vehicle was being shot at. The victim is reported to be stable with a gunshot wound to her head. Passengers in the victim's vehicle called 911 and one of the passengers was taken to a local hospital with an unrelated medical condition. The driver, police said, was taken to Harborview Medical Center with serious injuries. Police have not released a description of the suspects or their vehicle as details have not been able to be confirmed at this time. Renton Police are asking for the public's assistance in providing information about the shooting. Police are interested in any camera footage, be it captured by business or home cameras or dashcams from the area of the 300 Blk of Rainier Ave, headed north to SW Sunset, between 9:00 pm and 9:30 pm. If that footage appears it could be of evidentiary value, police would appreciate if residents would forward any footage to Det. Edwards at [email protected].
