NCC Gets Grant For Men's Volleyball, Women's Football Teams

GARDEN CITY, NY — Nassau Community College is receiving $20,000 in grants to create men's volleyball and women's flag football teams in the upcoming years. The grants were awarded by NJCAA Foundation, First Point Volleyball Foundation, the NFL and the Reigning Champs Experience NCC was one of 15 NJCAA member colleges chosen to receive $10,000 in grant funds formen's volleyball and $10,000 in grant funds for women's flag football. The grants were awarded to schools that expressed an interest in starting the two collegiate varsity offerings on campus. Volleyball is scheduled to start in Spring 2022, and flag football would start in Spring 2023. "At Nassau Community College we are focused on providing our students with a high-qualityeducation, excellent support services, and extracurricular activities that provide a solid foundation for their future successes," said Dr. Jermaine F. Williams, NCC president."Wethank the NJCAA, the First Point Volleyball Foundation, the NFL and Reigning Champs Experiences for providing the College with the opportunity to bring these athletic offerings to our students. We truly are a community at SUNY Nassau and our coaches are laser-focused on the student-athlete achieving. We look forward to cheering on all of our athletic teams in the upcoming seasons." NCC is currently looking for coaches for the two new teams, and plans to start recruiting once coaches have been selected. With the two new teams, the school now offers 25 different sports.
