PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, VA — Coronavirus cases in Prince William County are beginning to rise again after reaching lows during the early portion of July, according to data published by the Virginia Department of Health. 67 new cases were reported in Prince William County on Monday, Aug. 2. It's the highest number of new cases since early May, according to the Virginia Department of Health. Meanwhile, vaccinations in the county have continued to stagnate. 63 percent of eligible people, those age 12 or older, are fully vaccinated in Prince William County. An additional 4 percent of the eligible population is partially vaccinated, the Prince William Health District says. In the latter portions of July, vaccinations slowed to around 700 per day. The health district has not vaccinated more than 1,000 people in a day since June. During its busiest period in April, 7,000 people per day were vaccinated in Prince William County. Now, the Prince William Health District is encouraging more residents to seek vaccinations through their mobile clinic and back to school vaccination clinics for students. In addition to coronavirus vaccines, the back to school clinics will also offer immunizations against Hepatitis A and Meningococcal, in addition to the Tdap vaccine.
