The New York Athletic Club, founded in 1868, is a platinum and emerald-rated, private club. The NYAC remains steadfastly committed to its roots, supporting athletes at the highest levels of Olympic competition while providing world class facilities at its two locations – the Manhattan City House and Travers Island in Westchester County – for those of its members who wish simply to remain fit and healthy. The New York Athletic Club-Travers Island located in Westchester County is seeking  highly motivated Line Cook. The Line Cook will be responsible for the preparation of all designated menu items, accompanying sauces, dressing, and garnishes as they appear on the menus. Works in conjunction with the Chef and Sous Chef and assist with any tasks as directed. Essential Functions:• The ability to work hands on.• Work with servers to ensure that orders are completed according to request and on time.• Prepare food items by cutting, chopping, mixing, and preparing sauces.• Reports all unsafe working conditions, operational needs and equipment to the Executive Chef or management.• Ensure that the kitchen operation procedures and hygiene meet food safety standards and regulations.• Basic knife, soup and sauce making skills.• Butchers’ meat and fish.• Maintain high standards of quality and appearance for all food prepared and served.• Properly store all food, which must be covered, dated, and rotated daily to ensure proper portion control and quality.• Maintains a clean and safe workstation.• Maintains neat professional appearance and always observes personal cleanliness rules.• Has basic knife kit or Set. And ability to maintain their tools.• Ability to measure in ounces and grams.• Perform other related duties, task, and responsibilities as required or apparent. Qualifications and Experience:• Basic knowledge of the Culinary Arts.• Experience in a high-volume fine dining restaurant or private club.• High-energy, outgoing personality with strong professional interpersonal skills.• Diplomatic team player, able to foster relationships with team members.• Possesses a passion for exceeding member expectations and a commitment to excellence that results in providing the highest quality member and guest experience.• Strong verbal skills and able to read English.
