Press release from the Jefferson Parish Government: August 2, 2021 METAIRIE, LA - Bruce Spizer, a New Orlans lawyers and internationally recognized expert on The Beatles, will discuss the fourth book in his Beatles album series, The Beatles Finally Let It Be, at 6 p.m., Monday, Aug. 23, via video conference online. According to Spizer, The Beatles "Get Back"/"Let It Be" sessions and the resulting unreleased and released albums and bootlegged recordings are among the most interesting and confusing aspects of the Beatles recorded legacy. The Beatles Finally Let It Be covers the January 1969 rehearsals and recording sessions, the unreleased "Get Back" albums, "Let It Be" and "Let It Be...Naked," along with American, British and Canadian perspectives. The book relies on articles from 1969 and 1970 magazines and newspapers to report on what fans knew about the sessions and the planned albums that were never issued, as well as reviews of the unreleased and released albums. There are also chapters on 1970 current events and music and film, plus a detailed breakdown of all of the songs released from the sessions. The chapter regarding fan recollections includes stories from those were fortunate enough to be up on the roof for the Beatles final public performance on January 30, 1969, along with one from a fan on the ground. Bruce Spizer is a native New Orleanian, where he attended Isidore Newman School. He received an undergraduate degree, master's degree in business administration, and law degree from Tulane University. As a young lawyer, he managed a local new wave band called The Cold. In 1997, Spizer earned a large legal fee from the settlement of a class action lawsuit, and decided to use some of the money to replace his childhood collection of Beatles records that had been damaged by cockroaches. Drawn into the world of Beatlemania, he began to research and write books. To date, he has written eight books on the Beatles. Spizer has served as a consultant to EMI and Apple Records for their CD re-releases of the American configurations of the Beatles catalog. He was also chosen to write 2,592 questions for a special Beatles edition of the Trivial Pursuit board game. He served as an official consultant to Capitol Records on The Capitol Albums Volumes 1 and 2 and wrote the essay contained in the 56-page booklet included with The Capitol Albums Volume 2.
