Description
Press release from Western Kentucky University:
August 2, 2021
With the summer months upon us, many of our families may need assistance with locating resources to help with their meal plans. Share with families: community farmer's markets (did you know there is a USDA National Farmers Market Directory?), community gardens, and local food banks.
Some families will have a school-age child and many school districts offer summer feeding programs with specific drop off locations that can provide some lunches or meals for children.
The USDA has a website to assist in locating meals in your community. Be sure to check it out!
Develop relationships with your local agricultural groups or agencies. Starting a community garden may be just the way to provide nutritious food and encourage exercise with those in the neighborhoods and communities where you are located.
