MARIN COUNTY, CA — Marin County on Monday jointly announced with six other Bay Area counties and the city of Berkeley revised health orders that include a new mask mandate amid a delta variant-fueled coronavirus surge. The new orders require everyone to wear facial coverings indoors regardless of vaccination status. The order went into effect at 12:01 a.m. The widely expected announcement included an urgent call for all those eligible for the vaccine who have not yet had their shots to do so. The revised health orders are consistent with guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the California Department of Public Health, which recommend that fully vaccinated individuals wear masks while in indoor public settings, county officials said. "Masking and vaccinations are the most important tools we have to end the pandemic," Marin County Deputy Public Health Officer said Dr. Lisa Santora said in a statement. "The vaccine is safe, effective, free and widely available. We encourage all residents to do their part in wearing their masks to keep themselves, their families and their community safe. This is a short term, evidenced-based strategy to help keep our businesses open and support a safe reopening of schools." California residents can find a vaccination clinic by visiting here.
