Good morning, River City! Welcome to the Sacramento Daily Patch Newsletter! This is where you will find all of the best news and events happening in Sacramento for Tuesday August 3rd, 2021! First, today's weather: Clear throughout the day. High: 100 Low: 56. Here are the top stories today in Sacramento: Sadly, a body has been found and the search has ended for a woman who went missing in Garcia Bend Park on Saturday. A flyer identifies the woman as Cheng "May" Saechao. Her car was found in the parking lot and her belongings were found by the river. Police say they have not found evidence of foul play. (FOX40)It's also a very sad story out of Folsom, as a 49-year-old woman has drowned at Beals Point on Folsom Lake. Park rangers were called regarding a found child, who was uninjured. The child told authorities that his aunt had gone under and not come up again. A CHP helicopter found the woman and recovered her body a few minutes later. (ABC10)The coroner has identified the woman who was killed in her home in Land Park on July 23rd as 54-year-old Mariamawit Tessema. A 17 year old juvenile was arrested in connection with her homicide on July 24th. The suspect has not been identified because of their age, but authorities say the victim and suspect knew each other. (FOX40)Former Sacramento County Representative Doug Ose is in the running for the endorsement of the California GOP for his recall candidacy. Ose joins conservative radio talk show host Larry Elder, former San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer and Rocklin-area Assemblyman Kevin Kiley as potential endorsement candidates. Candidates who receive the endorsement could get access to cash and other party resources as they come down to the wire on their campaigns. (FOX40)A helicopter crash just north of Sacramento has claimed the life of a well-known almond grower and his wife. Bill Vann, his wife Susie, and two of their friends died in the Sunday afternoon crash near Highway 45 at Reservation Road. The victims were pronounced dead at the scene. More than 200 people are employed by the Vann organization, the family says, and Vann's brother will carry on the family business. The crash is under investigation by the FAA.
