JOLIET, IL—A Plainfield man was arrested early Saturday, accused of lashing out at officers during a traffic stop, at the police station and in an ambulance on the way to the hospital, the Joliet Police Department reported. Rodney Parks, 31, was booked and and transported to the Will County Adult Detention Facility and charged with aggravated battery to a peace officer, aggravated fleeing/eluding a peace officer, obstructing a peace officer and resisting a peace officer. According to police reports, at approximately 3:35 a.m. Saturday, officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop of Parks' vehicle at East Clinton Street and North Eastern Avenue. However, Parks refused to stop, and a short pursuit took place, police said. Soon, Parks' vehicle was stopped in the 100 block of North Chicago Street, but officers said Parks refused to get out of the vehicle despite numerous commands for him to exit. When Parks did exit the vehicle, he was involved in a brief struggle with officers before being taken into custody, according to police. Later, while being booked at the Joliet Police Department, police said Parks became uncooperative and requested an ambulance for an unknown problem, and did so again while being transported to the hospital by the Joliet Fire Department. When officers attempted to intervene, police say Parks struck one of them. Parks was taken to the hospital, but later transported to the detention facility, police said.
