ELMHURST, IL — In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving an underage drinking party, a hospital attack, an elderly person inside a hot car, a disturbance, a Social Security scam and a theft at a business, among other things. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports: Underage drinking Four 19-year-olds were cited on charges of underage drinking shortly after midnight Saturday in the 300 block of South Berkley. This happened after police received a loud party complaint. They were released on bond. Hospital punching After being admitted to Elmhurst Hospital, a person struck another person with a closed fist about 6:30 p.m. Thursday. There were no signs of injury, and no complaints were signed. Elderly person in car Officers and medics responded to the report of an elderly person inside a car with the windows rolled up shortly after noon Thursday at Whole Foods Market, 215 S. Route 83. The outside temperature was 85 degrees. The victim was checked by medics and stated she was hot, but refused treatment. Disturbance A person in the 100 block of North Glenview Avenue told police Saturday that another person became irate and threw items around the home. The first person said the argument never became physical. Social Security scam A resident in the 100 block of West Third Street received a call from someone claiming to be from the Social Security Administration's Office of Inspector General. The person said the resident's information was used to rent a vehicle, which was the subject of a police investigation, and that a warrant was going to be issued for the resident's arrest. The victim was instructed to buy gift cards and provide the card information to the suspect. The resident sent a photo of the gift cards and personal records to the person. An officer later gave the resident information on how to protect her identity. The report was filed Friday. Theft at business Someone entered an unsecured storage container and removed 81 cases of motor oil and a Kawasaki mini-motorcycle between 2 p.m. Thursday and 9 a.m. Friday at Elmhurst Frame and Alignment, 672 W. Lake St. Bicycles found An officer found two bicycles, gym shoes, a hat, a T-shirt and a sweatshirt left unattended about 9 a.m. Saturday at a park in the 400 block of East Schiller Street. The officer placed the items into evidence for safekeeping. Fugitive rider An officer tried to stop a black mini-motorcycle about 11:30 a.m. Saturday in the 600 block of North Avenue. The motorcyclist failed to stop and was last seen heading east toward Route 83. The suspect was described as male, white, and wearing a sleeveless T-shirt, dark pants and sunglasses. Driving violations Cristian Garcia, 24, of Elmhurst, was arrested about 8:30 p.m. Saturday in the 300 block of North Route 83 on a warrant and on charges of driving with a suspended license and speeding. He was released on bond.Ismael Jimenez-Granado, 19, of Villa Park, was cited about 9 p.m. Saturday at North Avenue and York Street on charges of driving with a suspended license and disobeying a traffic control device. He was released on bond. Rigoberto Mendoza, 31, of Bensenville, was cited about 4:30 p.m. Sunday at North Avenue and Route 83 on charges of no valid driver's license and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. He was released on bond. Shakira Earl, 25, of Chicago, was cited at 2 a.m. Monday at Route 83 and North on charges of no valid driver's license, improper lighting, no valid registration, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and possession of marijuana by a driver. She was released on bond. Police report information is provided by local police departments. Charges are not evidence of guilt. They are a record of police actions on a given day, and persons charged with a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
