CLEVELAND — Shontel Brown bested her intra-party rival Nina Turner, who conceded Tuesday night, to win the Democratic party's nomination for representative for the Ohio 11th Congressional District. Turner and Brown engaged in a hotly contested primary battle. Despite an early lead in the race, Turner's momentum slowed in the final weeks before the primary, while Brown upped her spending on TV ads, according to Huffington Post. The strategy paid off, with Brown eking out an upset victory on Tuesday night. Turner conceded after 10 p.m. Both Turner and Brown sought to replace Marcia Fudge, who had represented Ohio's 11th since 2008. President Joe Biden then picked Fudge to lead the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, opening her seat to a special election. On the Republican side of the ballot, Laverne Gore beat out Felicia Washington Ross to earn her party's nomination. However, Gore will enter the general election as a massive underdog. Here are the unofficial results from the Secretary of State's office: Democrats: Shontel Brown —33,592 votes Nina Turner — 29,430 votes Jeff Johnson — 1,152 votes Martin Alexander — 81 votes John E.
