MONTGOMERY, AL — The Alabama Sports Writers Association released its preseason high school football polls Monday, and Mountain Brook will begin its season ranked in the top 10. The Spartans, which made the semi-finals in 2020, will begin the season ranked no. 8. in Class 6A. The ASWA Class 6A preseason top 10: 1. Pinson Valley (21) 2. Spanish Fort 3. Clay-Chalkville (2) 4. Opelika 5. Briarwood 6. Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa 7. McGill-Toolen 8. Mountain Brook 9. Eufaula 10. Oxford Mountain Brook finished 11-2 last year, but has to replace its starting quarterback, several of its linemen and its top receiver. The Spartans open the season August 20 at home against Vestavia Hills.
