Root & Stalk, a NYC and Columbia county-based landscape design and installation business is seeking seasonal gardeners for installation and maintenance work upstate. A commitment of at least 2 days/week is required with additional hours as needed. Responsibilities include planting and transplanting, weeding, grooming, watering, clean up, fertilizing, hedge trimming, shrub pruning and occasional nursery runs to pick up plants and materials. Prefer 2 years gardening experience with basic plant ID and knowledge of maintenance techniques. You will receive some training in our planting and pruning techniques and be expected to learn as you go. Please be physically fit and able to lift up to 50 pounds some days. Ability to follow direction is essential along with good time management skills and a professional attitude at all times. It is a pleasant casual atmosphere but the work is demanding and a steady pace is expected. Most importantly, have a passionate interest in gardening and enjoy outdoor work. You must have a reliable cell phone and transportation. More skills = more $ so do highlight any specialty skills in your reply such as light carpentry, use of power tools, access to a truck, etc. Pay starts at $15/hr depending on experience.
