Local pickle company is hiring farmers market route drivers. Seeking staff to deliver and pickup weekend farmers market stands in the DC area. Biweekly pay is $17/hour; with tips and market bonuses, it comes to $20-25/hour, depending on the route. Our staff treats you with respect. We operate Sprinter and Transits. You must be early or on-time, able to load and unload your truck and a good communicator. You will be working independently. Pickles aren't light. This is a good workout. We like the crew we work with. They’re happy people who like our business (pickles sold by great people) and hustle to make the weekends happen. We communicate a lot to make sure things go right at our market stands. This means lots of text messages and phone calls while on duty. If you are not a communicator, this won’t be a good fit for you. Split weekend shift includes pickup and drop-off. Example 5a-9a + 12p-3p. This is a seasonal business that operates year round. We are busier in the summer. You’ll need a clean driving record. Do you regularly go to any farmers markets? Hiring Immediately! Text or email! Duties Early Morning Arrive on time (or early!): Anywhere between 5:15am and 6:45am. Submit brief inspection of vehicle for record keeping. Hold on to route folder for route- and market-specific information Load Transit or Sprinter with coolers filled with pickles (and more!); crates of kombucha; and bins with market equipment. Follow expediter’s instructions and help other drivers load out as needed. Drive to 3-5 markets and drop off coolers, crates, bins, tents, tables, and tent weights. Be available for communications and prepared to double back if you forget something. If the weather is wet,, set up tent to protect products and equipment (market staff will always appreciate this anyway!). Be prepared to help set up the last market you get to, depending on timing. After Market Drops Head home, back to the Pickle Factory, or another agreed upon location and have a 3-4 hour break; or If you’d like a longer day of work, you might be able to do some work at the Pickle Factory before heading back out for pickups. Afternoon Pickup market setups from all markets. Unload the truck everything that was loaded up in the morning. Unpack, clean, and restock unsold product. Tidy coolers and handle bank bags. Check in with Squad Leader on Duty and finish strong asa team! Assist with cleanup; finish strong as team with PM lead Qualifications Must have hustle and be strong! Must be able to wake up early and reliably get to work. Must be able to follow driver board notes, expediter’s instructions, and work well with other drivers Must be able to work efficiently to pack an organized van. Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds. Must be able to drive our sprinter van. Must have clean driving record. Must be able to communicate with marketeers and expediter if anything goes wrong. Must be able to work independently and as part of a team. Must be neat and clean person, since working with food. Time Commitment Weekly commitment from now up to Thanksgiving weekend or through the end of the year, depending on the route. Option for working until Christmas and/or over the winter. Each route will take about 2-3 hours one-way, depending on distance driven. Cleanup will take 1.5-2.5 hours, depending on how fast our weekend crew works.
