This absolutely wrecks my heart, but it’s time I reach out for help. Backstory: On my way to work one day, I saw this fella dodging cars on a highway. I made a quick decision to stop traffic, make sure he is safe and rescue him. For my lunch break, I took him to the vet and he was not microchipped. I then placed him in a two week hold at the APS of Durham to see if anyone would claim him. No one stepped up, so I did. He is such a sweetheart, but I am so stretched thin that I am not able to work with correcting some of his behavior that I anticipated from a stray. He is NOT good with children or small dogs. Is there anyone out there who is experienced with dogs and interested in giving Maverick the attention he needs? He is great with larger dogs, knows sit, stay, wait, potty, poopy, lay down, off, crawl and working in shake. He shows protective behavior when small dogs walk past him and I find myself not strong enough to control him. I love him with all of my heart, but he deserves someone who can devote their time to him. I do ask for a $200 rehoming fee to ensure he does not go into the wrong hands.
