Description
Hi all, I'm a singer-songwriter and I'm looking for bandmates that play the violin, viola, or cello! I play in a band called Granite to Glass that aspires to create intimate yet powerful acoustic music with soaring string arrangements. More specifically, I’m looking for string players that are interested in collaborating creatively by writing their own parts and/or improvising if they choose to. I have charts of all of our current music whenever needed though! All gigs are paid, and I’d be happy to talk further details. Here's some of our music! - "There's Nothing Quite Like Missing You", live music video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qvvrVIzv4GY) - "Between the Bars (Elliott Smith)", live music video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_t9kXXCXpdQ) - Self-titled LP, our latest album (https://open.spotify.com/album/2CNdnXtTMukKFt3sbMkOUf?si=ge0ubW1lRc64O33Y-j-JWg&dl_branch=1) - "Curse the Darkness, or Create a Light", string orchestra EP (https://granitetoglass.bandcamp.com/album/curse-the-darkness-or-create-a-light-string-orchestra-ep) - "for when you need this", full orchestra LP (https://granitetoglass.bandcamp.com/album/for-when-you-need-this-full-orchestra-lp) Some press: - "Heart-soaring strings..." - NPR (https://www.npr.org/sections/allsongs/2020/02/27/809284741/the-best-2020-tiny-desk-contest-entries-we-saw-this-week-volume-1) - "Granite to Glass transfer anxiety and fear, loneliness and heartache into wondrous, lush soundscapes filled with life and a vibrant effervescence." - Atwood Magazine (https://atwoodmagazine.com/ggld-granite-to-glass-a-light-dusk-song/) - "...a riveting, rather transfixing listening experience that deserves the broadest attention possible." - Stereo Embers Magazine (http://stereoembersmagazine.com/lightning-strikes-quick-but-essential-reviews-for-the-discerning-listener-7/) - "I highly recommend giving ["Curse the Darkness, or Create a Light"] a try, there is some true talent here." - Sophie's Floorboard (https://sophiesfloorboard.blogspot.com/2016/03/jon-kohen-curse-darkness-or-create.html) That's about it! I realize this is a lot at once, so thank you for your patience. If you think you may be interested, know anyone that may be, or could maybe help point me in the right direction, I'd love to chat. I'm really looking forward to potentially meeting some of you!
