Free School Supplies, Free Books, Free Groceries Teacher friends, parents, etc., please mark your calendars! Last year, we delivered the school supplies. This year, we will host Back to School with Books! Not only will kids get school supplies, but families will receive groceries, and kids will get to pick out their own book! There will be shoppers to help the kids and a visit with Julius B Anthony of St. Louis Black Authors of Children's Literature ! We are very grateful to First Bank for their financial contribution and to Turn the Page Stl for the resources and Playtime Pads! Collaboration is key to our regions' success! EyeSeeMe is an exciting new African American Children’s Bookstore in University City, MO. We want ALL children to see themselves in the books that they read. Our mission is to be a resource to parents, teachers, and schools in providing the very best children’s books on the market that promote positive images and stories about African American culture and history. As a tool to help increase literacy, African American children will benefit by seeing themselves respectfully represented in the literature they read. Non-African American children will benefit by helping to dispel negative and inaccurate stereotypical images of people of color and that despite our many differences, all people share common feelings and aspirations.
