Formerly known as Hip Hop Revival, this year’s FireFest Hip Hop Block Party in Lawndale has a new theme. “We are not all violent like you see on TV,” says Phil Jackson of Firehouse Community Arts Center and coordinator of this 800 person event on Saturday, August 14 at 2111 S. Hamlin, Lawndale. “The only battles you’ll see on August 14 are breakdance battles. Our community needs this inclusive, arts-filled event after everything negative that’s been said about us,” adds Jackson. There will be music, food, games, prizes and more at this FREE event.
