The fourth annual cemetery walk event will tell the stories of 8 decedents portrayed by actors.
Four years ago, the Jasper County Historical Society initiated an annual event, a walking tour of Weston Cemetery with costumed actors to portray people buried in the cemetery. The goal of the event is to present history in an entertaining and enjoyable way.
This year's fourth annual event will be presented in two formats: a staged performance in the morning and a walking tour with actors at 8 stations in the cemetery.
Weston Cemetery is the largest cemetery in Jasper County and is operated by the City of Rensselaer. Its first burial was in 1842 and it currently has more than 7500 graves.
