Description
We are hosting a multi-location combined climbing comp for all kids in the Summit community! This will double as the Team Texas Tryout. This climbing competition is for everyone from Little Rockers, to Team Summit, and even Team Texas! Climbers will compete throughout the weekend during flexible times in the disciplines of speed, bouldering, and ropes for an experience like never before! Registration includes a raffle ticket for each competitor. This event will also serve as the 2021 Fall Team Texas Tryout. COMPETITION INFORMATATION - Climbers must complete in all three disciplines, however, may come in at any time throughout the sessions scheduled to complete their boulders/routes/speed runs. - Climbers do not have to stay for the entire session. Team Summit and Team Texas oaches will attend sessions to work with climbers throughout the event and offer coaching on their climbing. - There will also be a La Sportiva and Scarpa shoe demo at Carrollton on Saturday, the 28th. Look for great deals on some of the best shoes and try them out on footwork stations set for the event! All climbers are encouraged to visit the footwork stations and may earn bonus points towards their final scores for taking part in them! - Awards will take place on Sunday, August 29th at the Plano location shortly after climbing concludes. CATEGORIESDIFFICULTY (Advanced/Recreational)Athletes will choose whether they want to compete in the Recreational category or the Advanced category. All Team Texas climbers are required to compete in the Advanced category. Climbers in Team Summit, other teams, and climbers not affiliated with any team can choose. If you have questions about which difficulty category your climber should compete in, reach out to your coach! GENDER (M/F)Then they will be broken up by gender (male/female). AGE (C1, C2, C3, C4)And finally, by age category from youngest to oldest: Category 1: Born in 2011 or later (Youth D) Category 2: Born from 2010-2009 (Youth C) Category 3: Born from 2008-2007 (Youth B) Category 4: Born from 2006-2003 (Youth A/JR) COMPETITION FORMATSPEEDAthletes will have as many attempts over the weekend as they would like, their fastest time will be taken for scoring purposes. Those in the Advanced division categories 3 and 4 will compete on the official IFSC speed route. All other categories will compete on a non-IFSC route. ROPESCompetitors will be able to come in throughout the scheduled sessions to climb as many routes as they want, with as many tries as they want. Each route will have a point value to it, your top three sends count as your total score. You must SEND a route for it to count — this means bottom to top with no falling! If you flash the route (send it first go), then you get a bonus! Advanced division categories 3 and 4 must lead climb. All other categories may choose to lead or top rope each route, but may receive a bonus for leading. BOULDERINGBouldering will follow a modified redpoint format and competitors will have the entire Carrollton session on Saturday, August 28th to climb the boulders. Scoring will be based on each climbers top 5 boulders completed. SCHEDULE This competition happens throughout the weekend, so your climber may choose when to compete. Climbers may arrive at any time and stay as long as they want during the competition session. Competitors are not permitted to climb on the competition climbs (rope or speed) outside of the competition hours. Friday, August 27th: 5pm- 8pm Plano for Rope and Speed Climbing Saturday, August 28th: 12pm- 6pm Carrollton for Bouldering La Sportiva and Scarpa Shoe Demo Footwork Stations (for bonus points!) Sunday, August 29th: 9am to 12pm Plano for Rope and Speed Climbing All scorecards due at 12pm Raffle and Awards Ceremony at 12:30pm SCORINGPaper score cards will be handed out upon arrival to the competition and scoring will be done by individual athletes throughout the weekend. It will be the athletes responsibility to keep track of their score card until they are ready to turn it in. Score cards may be turned in during any point in the competition. The total all-around score will be calculated by the rank of each discipline multiplied together. The lower the score, the higher the placement. NOTESVolunteer sign-up sheets and details to come! IMPORTANT: This is NOT a USAC sanctioned event and will not count towards any USAC qualification. TRYOUTThis competition will serve as the 2021 Fall Team Texas Tryout for all interested AND current Team Texas Athletes. Team Texas Athletes who placed in the top 10 at the 2021 USAC National Championships are exempt from re-trying out. If you are not currently on Team Texas and would like to be evaluated for the tryout, select YES when prompted in the checkout process.Team Texas tryouts happen in 1-3 tiers. This tryout will serve as the 1st tier, and your child may receive an automatic invitation OR a 2nd tier tryout invitation.
