Position Summary: The Custodian serves an essential role in the maintenance of Naples United Church of Christ, pd providing custodial support for routine and special programs, as well as minor maintenance projects. This part-time position supports the Director of Campus Operations, who is the first-level supervisor and oversees the maintenance department. Key Responsibilities: • Essential custodial tasks, including by not limited to, vacuuming, dusting, mopping, emptying trash, replenishing water coolers, cleaning floors and counters, cleaning and sanitizing restrooms, blowing and power washing sidewalks, washing windows, and replenishing restroom supplies • Basic light maintenance duties, including, but not limited to, painting, changing light bulbs, clearing drains, repairing faucets, assembling furniture, repair or replacement tasks as assigned. • Related tasks assisting with worship services, weddings, memorial garden internment, meetings, classes, workshops, social events and facility rentals, such as, but not limited to, unlocking and locking doors for events, turning on and off lights, adjusting thermostats, setting up and breaking down tables and chairs, rearranging furniture, laundering linens, and assisting food and beverage service for Sunday fellowship • Additional related responsibilities include reporting any observed safety hazards or maintenance issues to the Operations Director or church administration, cleaning and organizing storge and work areas, maintaining a safe work environment, a completing errands off campus to obtain supplies and equipment • Other custodial and maintenance duties as assigned Key Knowledge and Skill Sets: • Thorough knowledge of custodial standards and procedures to comply with health and safety codes • Basic knowledge of hand tools, light plumbing and electrical work, painting and basic carpentry are important. • Ability to plan, coordinate, organize, and supervise multiple projects simultaneously • Ability to work independently and with teams • Excellent capability to collaborate with all levels of church staff and congregation members. • Ability to deliver projects within deadline • Excellent knowledge of new technologies, practices, and techniques related to daily facility maintenance • Excellent problem-solving skills. Qualifications: • High School diploma or equivalent • At least one (1) year custodial experience • Must be physically able to walk, stand, climb ladders and stairs, squat, bend, and lifting at least 40 pounds. • Must be able to communicate (speak, read and write) fluently in English • A valid driver’s license and a reliable transportation • Flexible self-starter with ability to multitask while also being highly detail-oriented • An experience in non-profit or church setting is desireable • An understanding of, and acceptance for, people of diverse backgrounds • Commitment to the inclusivity of Naples UCC • Effective June 1, 2021 – all new employees of Naples UCC are required to be vaccinated for COVID-19. • All employees are required to pass a background check and a drug screening prior to employment. Schedule: Flexible, but availability must include weekends, including Sunday mornings Compensation: · $15-$17 hourly · Paid bi-weekly.
