In this workshop, you will learn the process of creating a hop Linocut print by artist Vernon Akili. All materials and one beer included. In addition, you will keep the Lino plate and cutting tool. Join us and make something amazing. What is Lino Cutting? Linocut is a printmaking technique where an artist cuts a design into a sheet of linoleum. Once the design is cut, an artist can add ink to the surface of the Lino sheet. Then paper is placed on top for a short period of time while making a print. Who is Vernon Akili? Vernon Akili is a mixed media artist and art educator based in Houston, TX. Originally from small town New Jersey, Vernon received his Bachelor’s of Fine Art from Fairleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck, NJ. His art is about celebrating the beauty of life with a particular focus on seeing the power, beauty, and grace in collage imagery. His work has been on display at The Houston Museum of African-American Culture and in Texas Southern University’s Art Museum as part of the City Wide African-American Exhibition. Due to the materials required for this workship, all participants must be 21+ and parcipation waiver must be signed upon arrival. All tickets will be sold in advance.
