Learn about which gardening tools that have been tried, tested, and described as “[LA] Arboretum tough." During this in-person presentation Morganelli will review her favorite gardening tools that have been tried and tested and that she describes as “Arboretum tough”. Having spent 10 years as Horticultural Supervisor at the Los Angeles County Arboretum and Botanic Garden, and currently teaching in the UCLA Extension Horticulture and Gardening Certificate Program, Morganelli has much hands-on experience to share. She will also speak about and demonstrate how to properly use and care for our garden tools to keep them at peak performance. ***IMPORTANT UPDATE*** The Southern California Horticultural Society will return to in-person meetings at the Friendship Auditorium in Griffith Park! Per Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, everyone 2 years of age and older must wear a mask in all indoor public places, regardless of their vaccination status. The in-person schedule is as follows: 7:00 pm - Doors Open 7:10 pm - Plant Forum 7:25 pm - SCHS Announcements 7:30 pm - Lecture and Q&A The Southern California Horticultural Society is a forum for the sharing of knowledge and experiences in the areas of gardening and botany. Our monthly meetings usually feature a speaker, the Plant Forum table (where members can bring in specimens to discuss), and plant or book sales. We also organize social gatherings at local private gardens and field trips for more extensive tours. Members of the Society are gardeners and professional botanists, nurserymen, landscape architects, designers, landscape contractors and consultants. They are just as often enthusiasts with no profession in horticulture. All have the desire to grow new plants and share the experiences of others. The Society does not have a specialty but is composed of people who grow an astounding array of plants and enjoy showing and talking about them with others.
