NORTH BAY SHORE, NY — A four-year-old boy was struck by a stray bullet inside of a North Shore home in the second of two shootings in the area in two days, Suffolk County police said.
Police said they responded to Manatuck Boulevard after a 911 call reported a shooting at 7:13 p.m. on Sunday. A four-year-old boy was "inside a mobile home when a bullet went through the window," striking the child in the leg, police said.
He was transported by family to an area hospital for treatment of "non-life-threatening injuries," police said.
Detectives are looking for a dark-colored SUV in connection to the shooting, police said.
In the second shooting, two men were injured in a drive-by shooting on Friday night, police said.
Police said that at about 7:45 p.m., the two men, a 21-year-old and a 22-year-old, were shot as they stood in the driveway of 217 Elm Dr. The shooter fled east in a black vehicle, police said, adding, that the victims went to the hospital on their own. They were treated for "non-life-threatening injuries," police said.
Detectives from Suffolk's third squad are continuing to investigate, according to police.
No further details on either case were released.
Detectives are asking anyone with information about the shooting to call 3rd Squad detectives at 631-854-8352 or Crime Stoppers, a confidential hotline, at 1-800-220-TIPS.
