NEW YORK CITY — Mayor Bill de Blasio finally made it official: he's supporting Eric Adams' bid to replace him at Gracie Mansion. De Blasio on Monday ended months of coyly denying and demurring questions about his support for Adams. He backed Adams' campaign at an event chockablock with Democratic heavyweights at City Hall Park. "I'm here to endorse Eric Adams because I believe in him," de Blasio said, according to the New York Daily News. "We're going to pass the baton to a great leader. He's taking up this moment — a huge challenge, no doubt, a huge challenge — but I can tell him: My team and I are gonna do everything, everything to give you everything you need to be ready." Adams thanked de Blasio for his support. "I'm as ready and eager as ever to get to work fighting for an equitable, safe, and prosperous future for the City that we love," he tweeted. Congressional representatives Jerry Nadler and Grace Meng, among others, also appeared at the event. Adams is widely favored to win over Republican mayoral nominee Curtis Sliwa.
