SEATTLE, WA — A registered sex offender has been charged with attempting to rape a woman in a women's bathroom at the King County Courthouse.
On Friday, the King County Prosecuting Attorney's office charged Clint J. Jory, 35, with attempted rape in the second degree with an aggravating factor of rapid recidivism.
According to the prosecutor's office, he had been released on July 23 following a 21-month sentence for sexual assault and indecent exposure charges.
He had registered as a transient sex offender the day before, according to Seattle Police.
According to police, two court marshalls found Jory in the women's bathroom naked, with his pants around his ankles, on Thursday. He was standing over a woman, who told police she had gone in to use the toilet when Jory burst into the stall and put his hand over her mouth.
Jory told police he hid in a women's bathroom stall that day because he was "trying to be with a girl." Police also say he also made sexual comments to a female detective during his questioning.
He reportedly told police he had smoked methamphetamine before going to the courthouse, and that his original plan was to find a person he had a fight with several days before.
Jory is being held in King County Correctional Facility on a $750,000 bond. He will be arraigned August 12.
