RENTON, WA — Tuesday, Aug. 3, is Election Day in King County, and all primary ballots are due by 8 p.m. sharp. According to King County Elections data, less than 17 percent of the county's 1.4 million registered voters had returned their ballots by Monday evening, but officials project voter turnout will hit 40 percent by the time every ballot is counted. Despite a three-week voting window, elections officials expected that more than half of the primary ballots cast this year would be returned between Monday and Tuesday. More than 200 candidates are part of this year's primary, and voters will decide which two will move on to November in local city council elections, mayoral contests, and the King County Executive race. A few communities were a little ahead of the turnout curve Monday, including Mercer Island, (21.02%), Clyde Hill (19.64%), Bellevue (18.46%) and Issaquah (18.37%). There is still plenty of time for last-minute voters to make their voice heard, but officials caution against relying on mailboxes Tuesday, as Friday was the last day recommended to mail ballots to ensure an on-time postmark. However, several dozen drop boxes around King County remain open for the last day of voting and will accept ballots until polls close promptly at 8 p.m. on Aug. 3. Residents also have the option to visit one of King County's vote centers, which can also register new voters and provide replacement ballots up to the last minute. After polls close, King County Elections will publish the first round of results online within 15 minutes. With so many last-minute ballots, it's likely that some vote tallies will change significantly throughout the week. Updated results will be posted each day by 4 p.m. Check out a map of the nearest ballot drop boxes Find a vote center: Bellevue College Cafeteria 3000 Landerholm Circle SE, Bellevue, WA 98007Election Day, August 3, 8:30 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.Directions to Bellevue College Cafeteria Federal Way Performing Arts & Event Center 31510 Pete von Reichbauer Way S, Federal Way, WA 98003Election Day, August 3, 8:30 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.Directions to Federal Way Performing Arts & Event Center Kenmore City Hall 18120 68th Avenue NE, Kenmore, WA 98028Election Day, August 3, 8:30 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.Directions to Kenmore City Hall Kent Centennial Center 400 W Gowe Street, Kent, WA 98032Election Day, August 3, 8:30 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.Directions to Kent Centennial Center King County Elections 919 SW Grady Way, Renton, WA 98057Election Day, August 3, 8:30 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.Directions to King County Elections Lumen Field Event Center 800 Occidental Ave S, Seattle, WA 98134Walk-in entrance on the corner of Occidental Ave S and S Royal Brougham WayElection Day, August 3, 8:30 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.Directions to Lumen Field Event Center Here are a few tools to help your ballot reach its destination on Election Day: Find your nearest dropbox out of the dozens across the county using an up-to-date map.Learn more about the candidates and ballot measures in your town, including those that will appear only on November ballots.Locate a vote center to register, drop off a ballot, or get a replacement.Monitor your ballot's status using King County's ballot tracker tool.
