Description
BELLEVUE, WA — The city of Bellevue is seeking public input as it develops a plan to improve the health of its waterways.
The city is working on a 20-year Watershed Management Plan "to improve the health of our streams for people and wildlife." Watersheds are areas of land that drain into a body of water.
As Bellevue has grown and expanded, the city says, more pollution has entered local streams in the form of stormwater. And, even if water is not polluted, too much can erode creek beds and streak banks, potentially harming fish and wildlife habitats.
The Watershed Management Plan will recommend what actions the city can take, possibly including projects, programs, policies and regulations, or enhanced maintenance.
Bellevue is home to the Kelsey Creek, Lake Sammamish, Coal Creek, and Small Lake Washington watersheds. Water quality in these watersheds affects Lake Sammamish, Lake Washington, and Puget Sound.
