RIDGEFIELD, CT — Residents can soon expect traffic delays during a water main replacement project not scheduled to conclude until June 2022.
Aquarion Water Company will commence work on the infrastructure upgrades beginning Monday, Aug. 9.
The project calls for the replacement of approximately 6,000 feet of water main on West Mountain Road and Peaceable Ridge Road. In addition, service lines to Aquarion customers' homes in the project area will be replaced.
"We greatly appreciate residents' patience during this project," said Michael Hiltz, Manager of Capital Delivery for Aquarion. "We will work closely with our customers, contractors, and town officials to coordinate the work and minimize any disruptions."
During construction, residents should expect minor traffic delays and possible detours during the working hours of 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m, Monday through Friday. Westport-based AJ Penna and Son Construction will be serving as the contractor for the water main replacement project, intended to improve system reliability and help reduce leaks.
Aquarion customers may sign up online for free project-related alerts. Updates will also be posted on the town's Facebook page, according to a news release from the utility.
