AUSTIN, TX — An Austin police officer who was critically injured in an east Austin crash on Wednesday died Saturday evening, the police department said. Senior Officer Lewis "Andy" Traylor, who had been with the department for nine years, died Saturday at Dell Seton Medical Center at the University of Texas in Austin. Traylor was critically injured Wednesday morning after his patrol car struck a tractor-trailer during a priority call while on-duty in the 7800 block of Farm-t0-Market Road 969 near Decker Lane. Interim Police Chief Joseph Chacon said Traylor was "an incredible officer, husband, father and friend" and will be missed by everyone. "Our hearts go out to @Austin_Police and its Officer Andy Traylor, who died this evening from injuries sustained in a car crash while on duty Wednesday morning," Round Rock PD said. "The Round Rock Police Department stands with our PD family."
