TEMECULA, CA — A crash late Sunday afternoon in Temecula was fatal, authorities have confirmed. A Chevrolet crashed into a tree and caught fire in the 30000 block of Rancho Vista Road at Ronald Reagan Sports Park, killing the driver who was identified as 26-year-old Luc McGinley of San Jacinto, according to Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department. The fatal solo-vehicle wreck was reported at 4:50 p.m. No other occupants were in the vehicle and no other injuries were reported. "The preliminary investigation revealed the Chevrolet lost control while traveling eastbound at a high rate of speed on Rancho Vista Road," the sheriff's department reported. "The vehicle slid off the roadway and struck a tree. It is unknown if intoxication played a role in this collision." The Riverside County Sheriff's Department is investigating the wreck.
