CONCORD, NH — It was another beautiful day in New Hampshire. Here is everything going on right now. Sununu Tours Storm Impacted Areas A fast-moving storm brisked through the state on Sunday night causing a lot of damage in a number of communities, mostly in western New Hampshire. Gov. Chris Sununu was briefed by Emergency Management Director Jennifer Harper about the storm damage last night and then, inspected the storm-impacted areas himself, visiting 14 sites, including Alstead, Acworth, Langdon, Lempster, Marlow, Unity, and Washington. "I would like to thank all road crews and first responders for their diligence in responding to this week's storms — often through the night, all in an effort to keep citizens safe," Sununu said. "It was an all-hands-on-deck effort, with support from state agencies like the department of transportation and homeland security and emergency management, and of course the countless local town officials who have worked around the clock." National Night Out Is Tuesday National Night Out will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 3, across the United States. The event, according to organizers, is an effort to build community between residents, law enforcement, first responders, and others, while preventing crime. In New Hampshire, there are more than 30 events scheduled, including the following Patch communities. Bedford, Concord, Exeter, Merrimack, Milford, Nashua, Portsmouth, and Salem. The theme for 2021 is, Together, We Can. Acting-U.S. Attorney John Farley will be attending the events in Concord and Manchester. "Strong community partnerships are an important way to prevent violent crime," he said. "I encourage everyone to participate in National Night Out and to become involved in their communities. By working together, we can help to keep our cities and towns safe from crime." Retirement Income Tax Phase-Out Fallout During the last legislative session, a phase-out of the state's 5 percent income tax on interest and dividends was approved and signed by the governor. The tax brought in around $137 million last year. Now, NHPR takes a look at what effect this change will have on New Hampshire. Arts Venues Net $24M More than 50 venues around New Hampshire will receive around $24 million from the Shuttered Venue Operators Grant program, according to the New Hampshire Union Leader. The money is part of $16 billion program to help performance spaces that lost at least 25 percent of their revenue during the pandemic.
