NORRISTOWN, PA — Montgomery County authorities are taking advantage of the upcoming National Night Out celebrations across the area to try to get a few more vaccines out into the public.
Pop-up clinics will be run at several of the events through the county's mobile vaccination unit. The single dose Johnson & Johnson shot will be available for anyone 18 and older who has not yet received a COVID-19 vaccine.
National Night Out events are community celebrations that aim to improve and recognize relations between local residents and law enforcement. Here's how local officials describe it: "National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live. National Night Out enhances the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community. Furthermore, it provides a great opportunity to bring police and neighbors together under positive circumstances."
The schedule for these vaccinations is as follows:
Abington Pre-Night Out Block Party on Monday, Aug. 2: Abington Town Center, Target Parking lot, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Lansdale National Night Out on Tuesday, Aug. 3, Lansdale Borough Hall, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.Hatboro National Night Out on Friday, Aug. 13, at Miller Meadow, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.Marlborough National Night Out on Saturday, Aug. 14 at St. John's Church, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.No pre-registration is required.
