Press release from the City of Cleveland Heights: City Operations Cleveland Heights Celebrates Centennial and Safety Forces Night August 3Join friends, neighbors, City staff, and Cleveland Heights Police and Fire departments at the annual Safety Forces Night Out on Tuesday, August 3 from 6:00 to 9:00pm. This year will be extra special as we will also be celebrating Cleveland Heights' Centennial with more activities including the six-foot tall Anniversary Card for celebrants to sign and gathering your messages and keepsakes for the 100-year time capsule. City Council begins meeting in person on August 2. The meetings will also continue to be streamed live at 7:30pm and can also be accessed on the City's YouTube channel. The agenda can be found on the City's website. You are also welcome to watch the Council Committee of the Whole meeting that will begin at 6:30pm and then proceed directly into the City Council meeting. Please use the same link noted above. Cedar-Lee-Meadowbrook Community Conversation August 5The City and its partners are committed to engaging with and keeping the community informed about the Cedar-Lee-Meadowbrook redevelopment. August 5 will be the start of a series of focused community conversations pertaining to this vital project. Join us on August 5 at the Heights Library (2345 Lee Road) at 6pm for a Kick-Off Parking & Traffic Community Workshop. Historic Preservation Design Guidelines Review August 4There will be a joint work session with the Landmark Commission, Architectural Board of Review, Planning staff and consultant Naylor Wellman, LLC to review the most recent draft of the Historic Preservation Design Guidelines, which can be found on the Historic Preservation Design Guidelines page including the upcoming meeting schedule. There will be a separate public meeting in September where residents can comment on the draft. This Week at Cain ParkCleveland's own Inlet Dance Theatre celebrates its 20th anniversary with a Kids Matinee concert from 1 to 2pm on July 30 and a full performance on July 31 at 8pm. The Singing Angels return to Cain Park on August 1 at 4pm. All three of these concerts are free of charge. Grammy-nominated Amythyst Kiah performs on August 3 at 8pm. For a complete schedule of events, visit the Cain Park website. Bulk Pick-Up Week of August 2Bulk pick-up will occur on your regular collection day the week of August 2. Bulk items are picked up once per month during the first FULL week of each month on your regular trash day; Monday-Friday is defined as a full week. Bulk pick-up is limited to four items per pick-up at no charge. All bulk pick-up items that are fabric must be wrapped in plastic. For additional bulk items, to request collection on any other day, or to request a special collection of loose brush, please use the Bulk Pickup Request form online. Cost is $10 per bulk item for a special pick-up. More Community Clean-up of Cain Park July 31The Cleveland Heights Green Team is closing their Plastic Free July campaign in partnership with the Sierra Club of Ohio for a greener, healthier Cleveland Heights with a community clean-up of Cain Park from 9 to 11am on July 31. Participants are asked to meet in the courtyard of the Main Ticket Office and to bring your own gloves and used grocery bags. Special Congressional Primary Election August 3Polls will be open 6:30am-7:30pm on Tuesday, August 3 to nominate one Democratic and one Republican candidate for the November 2 election to fill the vacant seat in Ohio's 11th Congressional District. Coventry Final Friday July 30The popular evening event series takes place the last Friday of each month on Coventry. Final Fridays feature an all-night happy hour (5-9pm) at participating bars, discounted shopping at local merchants, a sidewalk art walk, live entertainment, and engaging activities for all! Cleveland Heights Blood Drives August 4 and 7The American Red Cross is holding Blood Drives on August 4 (10am-4pm) at Heights Library (2345 Lee Road) and on August 7 (9am-3pm) at the Cleveland Heights Community Center (1 Monticello Blvd.).
