Press release from the City of Cornelius: July 28, 2021 After a year off, we are excited to announce that the Cornelius Police Department will now be accepting applications for the Fall 2021 Citizens Academy! The Fall class will be held on Tuesdays beginning September 7th through November, with the exception of one Saturday class. All classes will be held at the Cornelius Police Department from 6:00pm - 9:00pm. The purpose of the Cornelius Police Citizens Academy is to enhance communications between the public and law enforcement personnel. The Academy will provide citizens with specific opportunities to participate in day to day police operations; thus helping to build support from the public and stronger police-citizen partnerships.
