Parr Lumber Yard Associate FULL-TIME $17.50/hr 1311 SE Wilson Ave, Bend, OR 97702 Lumber Yard Associate is an entry level position responsible for providing legendary service by safely and efficiently loading customer vehicles with building materials. The Lumber Yard Associate is also responsible for keeping the yards clean and stocking inventory. This position reports to the Yard Manager and works closely with external and internal customers. Duties and Responsibilities Tasks: - Safely, accurately and efficiently loading customer vehicles with orders of building materials - Ensuring that appropriate paperwork is completed as per company policy - Receiving delivered inventory by properly inspecting paperwork for accuracy and by depositing inventory in designated locations - Inspecting stock and returned items to ensure salable quality - Putting stock away in correct location and nicely - Providing required paperwork for change orders - Completing inventory adjustments - Participating in inventory preparation and post procedures - Reading and following instructions on pick tickets - Opening and closing warehouse and yard when necessary Job Knowledge: - Complete Blue-Volt training as necessary - Seeks to learn products and the applications and attends product knowledge meetings - Knows product locations in yard and warehouse - Ability to read a measuring tape and carries one at all times - Understands product terminology and grading - Keeps forklift clean - Maintain yard cleanliness during course of work - Adhere to company procedures, policies and protocols as set forth in the Employees Handbook Safety: - Wears high visibility, safety gear, and proper uniform - Performs daily lift inspections - Always looks behind/honks horn when backing/rounding blind corners - Safely operates equipment - Promptly report all accidents/incidents and damaged products - Perform daily safety audit of forklift and promptly report any malfunctioning equipment - Keep aisles and exits clear - Attaches red safety flag to over-length product - Participates on safety committee if needed - Understands weight, height, and length limits to inform customer of being able to safely handle or transport material - Consistently follows safety protocols Customer Service: -Quickly greets and assists all customers Reviews and completes hold harmless form with customers -Shares product knowledge with customers Pulls orders and stages for will calls Teamwork: -Assists with material returns -Participates in team meetings and discussions -Assist other team members with their work when appropriate -Communicates with all coworkers and uses those relationships to solve problems -Cross-trains for driving, counter sales, receiving, and load building as needed -Responds quickly to radio -Regularly checks stock in computer system and reports low inventory when needed -As time allows and when needed, load and off-load delivery trucks both by hand and with a forklift Schedule - Shift start: 7:00AM - Shift length: 8 - 9.5 hours - Days: Rotating Monday-Saturday.
