Description
I have a beautiful nine-year-old dog named Zuri. She is a mixed breed. I got Zuri when she was around eight weeks old in Northern California. I was walking into a Rite Aid to get some mascara, and a homeless lady living in a van stopped me and said she couldn’t afford to feed this puppy anymore. Without hesitation, I took her home. Zuri has been around dogs and cats, ferrets, lizards, bunnies, potbelly pigs, hedgehogs, rats, everything. For some reason, though, she doesn’t do well with other female dogs. Zuri is extremely alpha, and she will never go out and start a fight, but if another dog pushes her, she will react. She does best at dog parks like Cherry Creek Dog Off-Leash Area, where there is ample room; she doesn’t like small enclosed parks with many dogs around her. I board dogs for a living while I’m in school right now. I also have four other female dogs of my own. It’s taken me years and years to accept that Zuri is who she is, and I can’t make her like other girl dogs if she doesn’t want to. She needs a superb home, perhaps without other dogs or one where there are only medium/large male dogs, preferably the latter, since she loves playing with my male dogs. She has no health problems at all and is full of life and playful energy. She can go hiking all day up in the mountains without pause; she’s a beast, always has been with stamina. She stays by your side and has never been a runner. Zuri is extraordinarily lovable and compassionate with people. She wants to be up and close with you all day long. She loves toys and sleeping in bed under the covers; she knows how to pull the covers up and over herself and tuck herself in. She would be best in a house with a fenced-in backyard where she can run and play. She is OBSESSED with water and swimming. In the summer, she could spend all the warm months at Cherry Creek State Park in the water! Sticks are her second favorite thing, and she will chase them for hours. I love her with my whole heart and soul. I can’t separate her any longer. I want her senior years to be her best yet; she deserves the best life. Zuri is very in tune with people’s emotions, and she can read you like a book. If you happen to have a bad day and are crying, she makes it a point not to leave your side and will keep her paw on your lap. She’s extraordinary. I think she would do best with a woman or a family. She needs someone active, willing to take her for walks or the park every day, camping, hiking, etc. I am just looking for someone or a family that can give her nothing but kindness and love. I would also ask that I would be able to keep in touch so I can see her once in a while and check in on her. It’s the only way I can get through this significant change, and be rest assured. Please feel free to message me for more information/questions about Zuri (Swahili for ‘beautiful’) and pictures. ❤️ She is spayed and up to date on vaccinations. $250
