Hey there. I’m a lead and rhythm guitarist in my mid-30s and I am interested in playing Grateful Dead music with people. I sing also. I’m particularly interested in playing some of the more intricate songs (Help On The Way/Slipknot, Crazy Fingers, Lost Sailor/Saint of Circumstance, Terrapin Station, for instance) and playing the songs with all the proper structure, parts, and arrangements.
Would also like to play some Phish.. also into doing some of the more intricate material by them and getting it right. Also down to play covers by different bands/artists of various types and also originals. Anything: Sonic Youth, The Smiths, Elliott Smith, Oasis, Blur, Genesis, J Dilla, MF Doom, Sade, country music, The Beatles, Steely Dan, jazz classics, Weezer, Smashing Pumpkins.. really open. I like and am influenced by all kinds of music from all types of rock to hip-hop to jazz to R&B to country to electronic and I am not just into “jambands”. I like a lot of music that people that don’t like or aren’t familiar with jambands at all like, and am even down to cover it. I would however like to dig into the Dead songbook with some people and use that as a launching pad for playing some music and see where it goes. I like playing music with room for improvisation, and Grateful Dead music allows for that.
