Description

Join us for the creation of a street Mandala as part of Uptown Art Week. New Acropolis Chicago is proud to participate for the 2nd year in a hands-on creative and collaborative workshop in Uptown Art Week 2021. Come get messy as we join our hearts and hands to create a colorful and harmonious Mandala at the Graceland cemetery (4001 N. Clark st.). In this workshop everyone will get a chance to express their creativity with chalk, as we paint a street Mandala and partner with our neighbors to bring more beauty, harmony, concentration and mindfulness to our community. What is a Mandala? 'Mandala' means circle and is an ancient Buddhist symbol that holds clues to understand the universe and ourselves. The Mandala begins in the Center, the Heart, the One, but then expresses beauty and wholeness through multiple forms... At it's heart, our Street Mandala asks us: What can I add to the Comm-Unity in order to make it more harmonies, inclusive and beautiful? Come get messy and bring more beauty to our neighborhood. New Acropolis Chicago is a 501(c)3 non profit organization promoting the spirit of unity, comparative investigation and self-realization through philosophical studies, cultural events and volunteering opportunities. New Acropolis' program of studies covers a wide range of cultural themes, and emphasizes the practical, modern-day application of philosophy.
