QC2 Crash Course #4 focuses on the microbiology of your beer! Class will start with an introduction to different types of media relevant to brewers, what they test for, and how to use them. Participants will pour and inoculate plates, and examine colonies under a microscope. The hands-on portion of this class will introduce participants to media they can easily make and use in a brewery with limited QC space and equipment.
QC2 Crash Course is brought to you by the Quality Control Collaboratory, a premier beer QC testing lab located in the University of Southern Maine. Luci Benedict, QC2 founder, and Sam White, QC2 lab coordinator, will be joined by Matt Nelson of Bissell Brothers Brewing for these practical, hands-on classes designed to build the skills needed to start up, or expand, your brewery's QC program.
