Draudiga Album Release with Video Nasties & Buzzy ALL AGES Draudiga Video Nasties, Buzzy Draudiga "Paranormal Romance" Album Release Draudiga lurks in the dusk, in the sleaziest corner of a haunted glade- where the dryads and the wood nymphs Sleep in Safety, head to toe Death Rock, covered in desert dust and strung out on old Gun Club and Hasil Adkins records while maintaining the airy whimsy of Kate Bush and the toothsome menace of Lydia Lunch. Not to oversell anything, of course. Let's stick to the facts. Reesa Wood has been making music in Portland, Maine since 2016, when she learned to embody rage, desire and confrontation fronting the metal edged Cadaverette, and developed confidence in her songwriting and guitar abilities in the heavy shoe gaze tinged Burr. In 2020, Reesa sat down with her old Burr bandmate JT Puiia, and recorded a new set of songs that became the “Paranormal Romance” EP, a solo collection of guitar, loops and newly refined vocals that conveyed lust and love and longing. During the Pandemic Summer ™ of 2020, Reesa wrote a whole new set of songs that further explored a lot of the themes and motifs that “Paranormal Romance” first touched on: love, loneliness accentuated by faerie lights of summer, and horny pagan deities (have fun listening for that lyric, gang). After bandying about ideas and demos, Reesa got a full band together to rehearse her first full length, “Phosphorescence,” in the well ventilated and appropriately socially distanced confines of Portland's Sun Tiki Studios. Caleb Aaron Coulthard of Tarantula Brothers lent the songs the aforementioned patina of psychobilly sleaze, and another old friend from Burr, Alex Merrill, brought in his own penchant for the crashing ugliness of Tracey Pew of the Birthday Party and the bouncy, classic Greg Demos era of Guided by Voices, as well as his longtime favorite collaborator, drummer Greg Murphy, to be the rhythm section. The end result, mastered by Caleb Mulkerin of Big Blood... Well, maybe you should let the songs themselves give you a better idea. The band is well rehearsed, fully vaccinated, and ready to play in summer of 2021 and beyond. Draudiga Video Nasties, Buzzy An all ages all inclusive music venue supporting the arts in their many forms.
