Treasures from Aztlan: Hispanic Women's Voices by Dr. Rebecca Dominguez-Karimi
Discover a different point-of-view from Hispanic women, as we celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month. In 2005, Dr. Dominguez-Karimi created an oral history collection titled Treasures From Aztlan. She gathered stories from Mexican Americans who lived during the Jim Crow era. These stories gave the individuals represented in the collection a voice to tell their harrowing accounts of survival from racist laws and practices in our culture. Many of those featured in this project have passed away, but the record of their story lives on to honor the struggles and triumphs of Hispanic people. Free to public. Please RSVP.
