Volunteers will remove vegetation near the trail that is blocking the sight line for people at the junction of the Mount Vernon Trail and Four Mile Run Trail. This area has been identified as a high crash area due to poor sightlines combined with multiple turning movements. Work will consist of:
Using pruners to remove bushesUsing bow saws to remove small treesTrimming overhead branchesCarrying and stacking cut vegetationNo special skills are needed. We'll teach you how to help in just a few minutes.
What to Bring:
Work Gloves if you have them (We will have several to borrow)Pruners or limb loppers if you have them (We will have several to borrow)SunscreenWater to drinkWhat to Wear: Long sleeves and pants are recommended to protect you from scrapes and cuts and any potential contact with poison ivy.
Getting there: Meet on the trail at the intersection of the Mount Vernon Trail and Four Mile Run Trail. The image below shows walking directions from the nearest available address. If coming by car, you can either park at the Potomac Yard shopping center in Alexandria or the Harris Teeter parking garage and then walk to the work site.
