MOVE to the sounds of dance, indie, new wave, disco, and house music from DJs Tizane and Feed the Light. TASTE Gong Fu Cha with artisan, farm-direct tea sourced straight from China. SMELL sensory scent installations. CREATE motion-generated art with wearable arduinos. WATCH Morgz Baker, glow dancer extraordinaire, light up the space. EXPLORE a thermal photobooth to help us see in the dark. EXPERIENCE a cathartic night of artistic community. ** What you should know about NLNL: It doesn’t matter what you wear. Remember, it’s dark! Gym attire, loungewear—yes, even lycra if that’s what you’re feeling. You'll be asked to take your shoes off, so you might want socks for comfort. No alcohol, no drugs. No strangers hitting on you. No photos or instagramming while on the dance floor. Aim to keep any dance floor conversation to a minimum. People often come alone and dance alone (just like in all those songs). Everyone dances in their own individual space. Bring water—it’s a workout! ** About Art Island Art Island is a hyperlocal art collective and creative agency in Austin. It began as a gathering, but has evolved to become a platform for showcasing, celebrating, and commissioning the arts. About No Lights No Lycra NLNL is a weekly judgment-free, substance-free, high-impact dance thing in the dark that started in Australia in 2009 and now occurs in dozens of communities all over the world, including right here in Austin.
